Greg Stoos retires after 46 seasons.

A graduate of Lancaster HS, Greg Stoos began officiating with the NFWOA in 1975 joining the likes of legends named Joe Rizzo, Russ MacKellar, Harvey Lyndaker, Joe Shifflet, Jerry Wright, and Vito Stella. After 46 seasons, Greg has decided to hang up his whistle, and will be greatly missed by his fellow officials, section six coaches and athletes, as well as everyone involved in wrestling throughout New York State.

Serving as Secretary, NFWOA Interpreter, and working with new officials training, Greg has devoted countless hours toward the advancement of our great officials association. There may never have been an NFWOA Tournament without Greg present on both days of the event. Often he could be seen working with new officials in the back gym, sharing his knowledge, and helping all of us to become the officials we are today.

Many would assume that after 46 seasons, his best years were far behind him, but this was simply not the case with Greg Stoos. In 2019, Greg worked his 10th state championship tournament and ranked in the top 10 in officials evaluations. This is a man who has worked an incredibly long career and is going out at the top of his game. We wish Greg all the best in his retirement and will hope to soon welcome him back as he enters the ranks of NFWOA Lifetime Membership.
